Michelin-starred Chef Gabriel Kreuther is making his way to Miami for an unmissable Festival dinner showcasing the James Beard Award winner’s classic French training and Alsatian heritage that are on full display at his eponymous New York City restaurant. Kreuther’s refreshingly contemporary approach to fine dining has garnered him numerous accolades including selection as a member of the esteemed Relais & Châteaux and Les Grandes Tables du Monde associations. For this SOBEWFF® dinner, he’ll team up with one of South Florida’s finest – Chef Jeremy Ford – who garnered a well-deserved Michelin star for Stubborn Seed, his excellent South of Fifth mainstay. The James Beard semi-finalist, who earned his stripes as the Executive Chef of Matador Room, is also at the helm of The Butcher’s Club at PGA National Resort, the stylish steakhouse that emphasizes the “Top Chef” winner’s peerless precision. Taking place at SGWS Wynwood, Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits’ state-of-the-art hospitality center, this sumptuous feast will unite these fellow Jean-Georges alums for an elegant evening full of beautifully balanced flavors.

Emmy and four-time James Beard Award-winning chef and TV personality Andrew Zimmern is back where he belongs – at the Festival, of course! – for an extraordinarily special evening curated in partnership with the FIU Embrace Center for Advancing Inclusive Communities, whose mission is to empower each differently abled person to live at their fullest potential. This first-of-its-kind dinner, the proceeds of which will fund a scholarship program that assists differently abled students on the university’s hospitality track in identifying and securing jobs in the local hospitality industry, will also provide them with valuable real-world experience as volunteers of the event. And what better place to do that than at Toro Toro, the excellent chophouse inside the InterContinental Miami that celebrates Miami’s vibrant and diverse Latin community. To commemorate the occasion, Richard Sandoval, the restaurant’s longtime Executive Chef, will join forces with Zimmern to craft a boldly flavored multi-course menu paired with Mollydooker Wines, internationally acclaimed and award winning wines produced in McLaren Vale South Australia, that does full justice to the dinner’s inclusive spirit and the Center’s innovative approach to programming, community engagement, and professional skills development. Continuing SOBEWFF®’s ongoing commitment to embracing diversity in all its forms, this inspired and inspiring dinner pushes the boundaries of the Festival’s mission – to EAT. DRINK. Nobody does high-caliber comfort food like Michael Mina. The Michelin-starred, James Beard Award-winning chef and restaurateur, who runs an impressive forty plus restaurants across the United States, has always displayed an uncanny ability to turn the most craveable foods into a feast fit for royalty. An unwavering commitment to excellence imbues each of his celebrated restaurants – perhaps none more so than Bourbon Steak at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa, the elegant Aventura hotspot led by Executive Chef Gabriel Fenton. Also showcasing her culinary chops is Hillary Sterling, Executive Chef of Ci Siamo, Union Square Hospitality Group's live-fire restaurant located in the Manhattan West neighborhood. Miami meets the Middle East at this dinner hosted by three remarkable talents, all of whom bring a seasonal, localized approach to their signature styles of cooking. Engel, who garnered a James Beard Rising Star Chef Award during his formative stint at Shaya, is the chef/partner of the Michelin-starred Galit in Chicago, where he has all but cornered the market (and considerably raised the bar) when it comes to crafting modern interpretations of traditional Israeli dishes. Who better to pair him with than Zak Stern, Miami’s resident mensch and a 2022 James Beard finalist whose long-adored Zak the Baker recently received MICHELIN Guide’s prestigious Bib Gourmand status?! And to make this exclusive SOBEWFF® dinner even more enviable, we’ve invited James Beard Award winner and Miami culinary royalty Michelle Bernstein, the in-demand chef behind Cafe La Trova and La Cañita whom we can always count on for bright Latin flavors. With skillful support from Diogo Porto, the Executive Chef of The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach’s Fuego Y Mar, this trio of tastemakers will infuse their menu with a vibrant tangle of flavors guaranteed to make you feel like family.

It’s hard to imagine a more immersive environment than the one that LEKU’s culinary team, headed by Carlos Garcia, has created at the elegant restaurant at the Rubell Museum which celebrates the Basque region’s cuisine in all of its gastronomic glory. Despite the restaurant’s contemporary, Miami-chic design, Garcia's dishes are so deeply rooted in the flavors and techniques of the Basque region, you could close your eyes and swear that you were sitting amongst the mountain ranges of Northern Spain. For this once-in-a-lifetime SOBEWFF® dinner, he’s invited Chef David Romero – Executive Chef of the 5-star Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona and one of the great modern culinary interpreters of Catalan cuisine – to curate an exceptional menu that respects the area’s ingredients which, as Chef Romero notes, “can be blended, but never hidden.” These two virtuosic artists – both headliners in their own right – will each reveal a profoundly personal approach to their region’s classics, insisting that you both see and taste the splendor of Northern Spain just as they do.

Join us for a culinary affair unlike any other. Tequila Casa Dragones, Gabriela Cámara, Randy Alonso and Chris Hudnall invite you to go on a journey of taste and experience a 5-course pairing menu that your palate soon won’t forget. Hailed by Time magazine as “one of the 100 most influential people in the world,” Gabriela Cámara is certainly no stranger to success. Her restaurant – the seafood-centric Contramar (in Mexico City) is one of the most beloved culinary destinations in the world. Cámara, a James Beard semifinalist and food policy activist was appointed by the Mexican government to its Council of Cultural Diplomacy, comprised of the country’s most distinguished cultural stewards. For this spirit-forward dinner, Cámara will take up residence at Lost Boy & Co.’s Mayfair Grill, the newly renovated Mayfair House Hotel & Garden’s lively restaurant inspired by North America’s Sonoran region (Arizona, Southern California and New Mexico). Lost Boy & Co. chefs Kurtis Jantz and Sean Bernal’s signature wood-fueled, open-fire fare will echo Cámara’s peerless penchant for the lush, lingering flavors of her native Mexico as they collectively create a menu complemented by all four Tequila Casa Dragones expressions. Featuring an inventively crafted Casa Dragones-based welcome cocktail from Lost Boy & Co. founders Randy Alonso and Chris Hudnall, this highly anticipated SOBEWFF® dinner is one for the record books, reflecting Cámara’s personal – and sometimes non-traditional – approach to Mexican cooking.

Nestled along the Amalfi Coast in the small seaside village of Nerano, you’ll find a charming hotel and restaurant called Lo Scoglio. Jutting out and into the Tyrrhenian Sea, across a boulder (or “scoglio''), it’s the kind of place you’d expect to encounter only in a Bond film. (Ironically, Lo Scoglio has become something of a summertime staple for celebrities and A-listers, many of whom routinely dock their yachts along the property’s deck.) The palpable energy generated by the restaurant – which is unmistakably warm, casual, and convivial – comes courtesy of the De Simone family (who founded Lo Scoglio in 1958) and extends well into the kitchen, from which Executive Chef Tommaso De Simone serves up a glorious array of dishes including his signature spaghetti alla Nerano (spaghetti with zucchini, cheese, and basil). Lucky for us, De Simone is bringing his talents stateside, where he’s set to collaborate with two other culinary geniuses – Adriano Cattaneo, Global Executive Chef of the internationally renowned French Riviera-inspired LPM Restaurant & Bar; and Brian Brumec, Executive Chef of the brand’s ultra-chic Miami location. Together, this exceptionally talented trio will craft a multi-course menu of recipes that pays tribute to the cinematic, sun-drenched seascapes of the Mediterranean. For this exclusive Festival event, the passionate Patagonian grill master and “Chef’s Table” star will prepare a world-class menu that puts the beguiling mystique of fire at the forefront of his rustic dishes, accented by fine wines from the Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits portfolio. Global flavors abound at this SOBEWFF® stunner, which pairs “Top Chef” alum and “Alex vs America” host Eric Adjepong with the supremely gifted Executive Chef of New York City’s Butter Restaurant, Michael Jenkins. Though they both routinely work alongside Iron Chef Alex Guarnschelli, these two culinary dynamos have more than that in common – starting with a profound appreciation for vivid flavors and beautiful dishes. The Ghanaian American Adjepong, who holds a Master of Public Health in International Public Health Nutrition, has been singled out for his globally-minded approach, which beautifully captures the flavors, textures and aromas of his West African heritage. And Jenkins, a “Chopped” champion and two-time SOBEWFF® Burger Bash winner, consistently earns rave reviews for his equally sensational seasonal approach and greenmarket prowess. For this dinner at Cecconi’s at Soho Beach House, the two will be joined by the restaurant’s Executive Chef, Sergio Sigala, who never fails to impress with his enticing dishes that evoke a refined sense of comfort and conviviality. While it’s no secret that all three of these chefs are fierce competitors, this dinner is anything but a competition. On the contrary, it’s simply a chance to marvel anew at their mutual respect and multi-faceted gifts.

Fellow “Chopped” judges and “Tournament of Champions” winners Maneet Chauhan and Tiffani Faison are two of the best chefs working today – period. Lucky for us, they’re teaming up for an enchanting Festival dinner that makes ample use of their versatile gifts. Chauhan, the chef/owner of Nashville’s acclaimed Chauhan Ale & Masala House, is best known to TV audiences for her long-running stint as a judge on “Chopped.” And while she is often celebrated for her transcendent Indian flavors, she’s opted for a different flavor profile here, one that complements the talents of the James Beard-nominated Faison, whose Big Heart Hospitality empire (which includes Sweet Cheeks Q, Fool’s Errand, and Orfano, among others) has taken the Boston dining scene by storm over the past decade. These two powerhouses will be joined by Sezer Deniz, Executive Chef of Area 31 at Kimpton EPIC Hotel, whose impressive career includes stints at the Michelin-starred Alinea in Chicago and JW Marriott in Ankara, Turkey. Featuring sparkling views of Biscayne Bay and the Miami River, it’s safe to say that at this dinner, everybody goes home a winner. On your knees, pasta lovers. A superhero is making his way to Miami and his name is Stefano Secchi. The skilled chef of Rezdôra in New York City’s Flatiron District has already become something of a pasta-making legend, having trained under the brilliant Massimo Bottura at Osteria Francescana in Modena before opening his Michelin-starred restaurant that celebrates the cuisine of Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region. Lucky for us (and for you!), he will have the opportunity to demonstrate his exceptionally versatile gifts at this year’s Festival as he shares the spotlight with Michael White and Manuel Garcia. White has been the definitive word on Italian gastronomy since he burst onto the New York culinary scene nearly 20 years ago. As one of the country’s most decorated chefs – with career-defining successes and countless awards as the Head Chef of Altamarea Group’s roster of restaurants including Marea, Ai Fiori, and Vaucluse – he has certainly claimed his rightful spot in the culinary canon. While Garcia is the Executive Chef of Zucca, the stylish Coral Gables restaurant known for its inventive spins on traditional pasta dishes. Complete with magnificent Italian wine pairings courtesy of Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, the trio's menu will pay homage to the style of the local nonna tradition and prove that when it comes to Italian comfort food, there is nothing quite like a perfect bowl of pasta.

The story of Maison Mumm is one of people: a founding family with large ideas and larger than life personalities; Cellar Masters, generations of growers, agronomists, oenologists, whose collective skills raised the House to the highest echelons of Champagne, since 1827. But it is also the story of legendary terroirs and of a bold, distinctive grape: Pinot Noir. RSRV. With these initials, the House’s Chefs de caves have marked in their cellar books certain exceptional wines “reserved” for a circle of insiders, friends of the House. In the 21st century, Maison Mumm has bestowed this designation for its private collection, a collection that epitomizes the excellence of its terroirs and savoir-faire. True to this heritage, RSRV represents the only collection of five 100% Grand Cru cuvées: RSRV Blanc de Noirs, RSRV Blanc de Blancs, RSRV Rosé Foujita, RSRV Cuvée 4.5 and RSRV Cuvée Lalou. An exclusive collection, naturally destined for connoisseurs. Featured Wines G.H.Mumm Grand Cordon RSRV Blanc de Noirs RSRV Blanc de Blancs 2014 RSRV Rosé Foujita RSRV Cuvée 4.5 RSRV Cuvée Lalou 2006

When Robert Mondavi chose our To Kalon vineyard as the home for his new winery in 1966 he remarked, “It was a vineyard with a distinguished history and a magical nature. Ideal soils, sunlight, and rain-to my eye, the vineyard was a treasure.” Situated on prime benchland in west Oakville, the low-fertility, well-drained soils combine with optimal climate balance to yield rich, complex flavors and peak fruit maturity. To Kalon Vineyard is recognized as one of the finest vineyards in the world. Ancient Greek for “The Beautiful” it provides us with grapes for our Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon and is the exclusive source of our Fumé Blanc Reserve and Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve. In this session, we will explore the terroir and agibility of Robert Mondavi Winery’s To Kalon vineyard through both white and red wines. As far as Festival events go, it’s nearly impossible to top a dinner headlined by chef, author, restaurateur, and Food Network superstar Giada De Laurentiis. The chef and Food Network personality is just as celebrated for her effortless style as she is for her inventive Italian flavors. Through her world-class restaurants, best-selling cookbooks, and a burgeoning all-things-Italian website and e-commerce platform (Giadzy.com), the Emmy Award winner has managed to translate those exceptional gifts into a kind of aspirational lifestyle that feels both exotic yet entirely accessible. That sensibility extends to her latest venture, Giada Catering, the catering company she recently created in partnership with Patina Restaurant Group, and the focus of this SOBEWFF® dinner at Verde at the Pérez Art Museum Miami. Timon Balloo quickly became one of Miami’s most buzzed-about chefs after bursting onto the culinary scene as the chef/partner of SUGARCANE raw bar grill, the Midtown Miami brasserie that has consistently drawn crowds (both locals and tourists alike) since opening over a decade ago. Unsurprisingly, the James Beard nominee has retained that status with a wide-ranging roster of South Florida restaurants – The Katherine, Mrs. Balloo at the Wharf Fort Lauderdale, the virtual eatery Balloo Wallah, and the now-closed (but affectionately remembered) Balloo. His globally-minded approach and extensive culinary repertoire, which spans from Asian and Indian street food to elevated Caribbean fare – would seem to be the perfect foil for chef and television personality Tiffany Derry. Known for her sensational Southern flavors that are equal parts reverent and redefined, the magnetic “Top Chef” alum is at the helm of Roots Chicken Shak and Roots Southern Table, the latter of which garnered her a coveted James Beard nomination for “Best New Restaurant” in 2022. One could argue that some of Iron Chef Marc Forgione’s greatest culinary achievements lie at the intersection of meat and heat. It’s true – when it comes to finding the flavor in fire, there are few chefs who can match his uncompromising passion and precision. This year, the celebrated chef of Peasant, One Fifth, and Restaurant Marc Forgione (all in NYC) is heading to the Festival to co-host an opulent Korean barbeque-style brunch at COTE, the Michelin-starred and James Beard Award-nominated KOREAN STEAKHOUSE™ in Miami’s Design District helmed by proprietor Simon Kim and Executive Chef David Shim. After making a red-hot debut with their New York City flagship location (which remains a standout amidst the city’s ever-crowded culinary scene), Kim and Shim brought their considerable talents to the Magic City, crafting a menu that stays true to the original concept while infusing each dish with a Latin and South American edge. For this elegant SOBEWFF® brunch, Shim and Forgione will turn up the heat to create a fiery, interactive dining experience that showcases dry-aged meats of the highest quality (prepared on the restaurant’s smokeless state-of-the-art tabletop grills), with richly flavored side dishes to match. Don’t bother making other brunch plans – simply put, this one is a cut above the rest.

A profound appreciation for the aromatic flavors of Asia is destined to infuse this SOBEWFF® lunch headlined by Cédric Vongerichten and Tyson Cole. The Bangkok-born Vongerichten, whose impressive career includes stints at the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong and El Bulli in Barcelona, has often been singled out by diners and critics alike for his globally-minded cuisine – so winningly realized at Wayan, the chef’s excellent French-Indonesian restaurant in New York City. For this intimate event, Vongerichten will join forces with Cole, a James Beard Award winner whose unique approach – meticulous and playful, by turns – is at the center of Uchi, the splendid Austin restaurant he opened in 2003 to universal acclaim. In 2021, the Food & Wine Best New Chef recipient, who received extensive training under two formidable sushi masters, brought his Pacific Rim perspective to Miami – and the city is all the richer for it. Uchi’s impossibly chic Wynwood outpost will showcase both chefs’ finely-honed techniques and layered approach to multi-cultural cuisine as they deliver an inventive menu that awakens your senses with the fresh, exotic flavors of the East.

Let’s face it – sushi master classes aren’t exactly a novel concept. But a sushi master class curated by David Grutman?! Pass the chopsticks, please. We know that the hospitality mogul isn’t a sushi chef (or even Japanese for that matter) BUT as is the case with all of his restaurants, taste – both in flavor and in presentation – is of paramount importance. And that’s exactly what we’re after at this exclusive SOBEWFF® class and lunch hosted by Gekkō Miami, the moody jewel-toned Japanese-inspired steakhouse and lounge in Brickell that Grutman opened with GRAMMY® Award-winning recording artist Bad Bunny earlier this year. Gekkō – Japanese for “moonlight” – will set the perfect vibey atmosphere for learning how to make the restaurant’s eye-catching sushi at home. At this interactive class and lunch, you’ll master the art of prepping, filling, rolling, plating and serving the most incredible sushi inventions, after which you’ll close out the afternoon with a sumptuous lunch that puts your skills to the ultimate test – taste! Location: Luca Osteria
In a city stuffed with first-rate Italian restaurants, Luca Osteria remains an unqualified standout. In fact, we’ll wager that the cozy Coral Gables restaurant easily ranks as one of the city’s finest, Italian or otherwise. And frankly, that should come as no surprise given both the talents and track record of its Executive Chef, Giorgio Rapicavoli, who has remained something of a culinary darling since bursting onto the Miami dining scene over a decade ago. Still, the Michelin-recommended Luca – best known for its staggeringly delicious pastas – might just be the Chopped champion’s crown jewel. For this exclusive SOBEWFF® lunch, he’ll share the kitchen at Luca with Tommaso De Simone, Executive Chef of Lo Scoglio, the charming hotel and restaurant nestled in the small seaside village of Nerano along the Amalfi Coast. De Simone’s grandfather founded the restaurant in 1958 and since then, its enchanting deck overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea has attracted crowds of locals and celebrities alike. Like Luca, the centerpiece of Lo Scoglio is pasta – most notably, the restaurant’s signature spaghetti alla Nerano (spaghetti with zucchini, cheese, and basil) – which we’re hoping makes it onto De Simone and Rapicavoli’s multi-course lunch menu. As the prolific Academy Award-winning film director Frederico Fellini once said, “Life is a combination of magic and pasta.” This lunch, which seamlessly blends two complementary approaches to Italian cuisine, ensures you get both.

The master himself is making his much-anticipated return to SOBEWFF® and we couldn’t be more thrilled! The ever-busy chef, restaurateur and 2013 SOBEWFF® Tribute Dinner honoree, who runs a staggering 53 restaurants and 15 hotels around the world, is rolling up his sleeves (not to mention his highly sought-after sushi) as he once again presides over the kitchen of his namesake restaurant located inside the Nobu Hotel Eden Roc, alongside fellow Nobu chefs Thomas Buckley and Jake Eaton. Expect the unexpected as the trio blends Japanese and Peruvian ingredients in perfect harmony to deliver an inventive menu that awakens your palate with fresh, clean and exotic flavors, accented by pitch-perfect wine pairings from the Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits portfolio. It’s worth noting that the restaurant’s plush, golden-toned patio, which has been bedecked in Nobu’s signature style, features delicate paper lanterns that seem to be floating on air. A word of caution: After this dreamy lunch, you might be too.

There’s something almost sacred about really good barbecue. Perhaps it’s the patience required to cook it low and slow until it’s been burnished, browned, and rendered impossibly tender. Or the subtle yet oftentimes substantial differences that make up each chef’s proprietary sauce. Whatever the case may be, we’ve always found a way to highlight the best of this sweet and smokey favorite and this master class hosted by Harry and Michelle Coleman of Smoke & Dough is no exception. Join these two pros, who also own and operate the equally popular Empanada Harry’s, as they show you how they put their singular Miami spin on classic BBQ. One glance at their menu and you can see why this local smokehouse has been the talk of the town since opening its doors in early 2022. (Cafecito-rubbed brisket or guava-ancho BBQ glazed baby back ribs, anyone?!) At this interactive master class and lunch, they’re pulling out all the stops – and giving you all their secrets – for a stick-to-your-ribs experience you can only get at SOBEWFF®!

You can’t live – or even visit – the Magic City without sampling what is arguably one of the city’s greater natural resources. We’re talking about the croqueta, of course – the profoundly satisfying deep-fried delicacy that’s practically a staple in every Miami household. And while the city is home to many excellent interactions of this bite-sized crowd pleaser, very few have generated the kind of cult following that Eileen and Jonathan Andrade’s croquetas have. (Islas Canarias, the restaurant that the chef-siblings’ grandparents started back in 1977, still serves up some of the most insanely delicious croquetas you can find anywhere.) Join the award-winning duo behind Finka Table and Tap, Amelia’s 1931, and Barbakoa by Finka for this interactive master class at The Real Food Academy, where they’ll teach you the magic that goes into making these sacred little cylinders. From traditional Cuban ham to a host of other global influences, the Andrades will prove just how perfect the croqueta is as a vehicle for fully loaded flavor.

In 1997, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, Chairman of the Advisory Board of Baron Philippe de Rothschild S.A., and Don Eduardo Guilisasti Tagle, Chairman of Viña Concha y Toro S.A., sealed a profound alliance, with a view to create an exceptional Franco-Chilean premium wine. Almaviva is the result of an encounter between two cultures: Chile contributing with its nature, soil, climate and vines, while France contributes with its winemaking know-how, elegance and traditions. The wine is made from a blend of classic Bordeaux varieties – in which Cabernet Sauvignon predominates. On the other hand, Puente Alto has been recognized for over thirty years, as offering ideal conditions for growing the best Cabernet Sauvignon grape. Characteristic features of Puente Alto include its stony soil, cold winters, and the hot days and cool nights of its summers. The Wagner family founded Caymus Vineyards in Rutherford, Napa Valley, in 1972. Fifty years later, they were thrilled to open a new winery in nearby Suisun Valley. Separated from Napa by just an invisible county line, Suisun Valley became an AVA in 1982, just one year after its famous neighbor. Yet this exceptional wine region remains largely undiscovered. About one-tenth the size of Napa Valley, Suisun Valley shares a remarkably similar maritime climate, influenced by San Francisco and San Pablo Bays. Warm days and cool nights provide ideal conditions for a variety of grapes. Suisun Valley has stayed out of the spotlight due to its small size and family wineries that sell mostly out of their tasting rooms. Historically known for its stone fruits and walnuts, the region is increasingly being recognized for the quality of its wines. The Wagners began exploring Suisun Valley about 10 years ago, drawn in by its pastoral beauty, small family farms and high-quality fruit. Their excitement led them to farm grapes in the region and create a new label, Caymus-Suisun. In spring of 2022, they opened Caymus-Suisun Winery, with a modern design nestled among vineyards and fruit orchards. They feel extremely fortunate to be part of the Suisun community and to invite others to explore this remarkable wine region for themselves. When the MICHELIN Guide announced its list of Florida restaurants in June of 2022, it came as no surprise that L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon was left shining brightly at the top, singled out as the only two-starred restaurant in the entire state. It’s not just that this ultra-sleek Miami hotspot – part of The Bastion Collection brand of restaurants – dons the name of one of the most distinguished chefs of our time (the late Joël Robuchon, who racked up an astounding 32 Michelin stars over the course of his illustrious career). No, the greatest achievement of this meticulously run restaurant is that it has managed to carry out Monsieur Robuchon’s legacy while continuing to push the boundaries of fine dining in new and exciting ways. The same combination of technical mastery and theatrical whimsy is evident at The Bastion Collection’s other Design District favorite, Le Jardinier, which picked up a well-deserved Michelin star this past year for its sophisticated vegetable-forward menu. At this extraordinary SOBEWFF® dinner, Chef Robuchon’s protégés – Alain Verzeroli and Salvatore Martone, who serve as The Bastion Collection’s venerable Culinary Director and Executive Pastry Chef, respectively – will curate an exquisite SOBEWFF® menu of modern French cuisine that illustrates the full measure of high-end hospitality.

It’s no secret that the hospitality industry is packed with so many vital female voices, and we’re thrilled to highlight three of them at this exclusive SOBEWFF® dinner. First up is James Beard nominee (and José Andrés alum) Katie Button, whose Spanish-style tapas restaurant, Cúrate, has remained a pillar of Asheville’s culinary scene for over a decade. Her festive flavors nicely complement those of fellow James Beard nominee (and Michelle Bernstein alum) Lindsay Autry’s modern spin on Southern comfort food, which is ripe for the taking at her two excellent South Florida restaurants, THE REGIONAL Kitchen & Public House and Honeybelle at PGA National Resort. To complete the trifecta, we’ve called on Allegra Angelo, the seriously skilled sommelier at the helm of Vinya, Miami’s flourishing wine and spirits source that has expanded in recent years to include an in-demand online store, retail, and restaurant locations (in Key Biscayne and Coral Gables) and even a pop-up in Time Out Market Miami. Utilizing a first-rate selection of wines from the Southern Glazer’s portfolio, Angelo will expertly pair a menu that manages to fully capture this formidable trio’s innate warmth and generosity of spirit. We’ll definitely drink to that.

For this exclusive dinner, expect a generous helping of surf and turf as these two Alabama buddies serve up a skillfully balanced menu paired with rich, complex and boldly structured wines from the Wagners, the family that brought you Caymus from Napa. It will all add up to an unmissable evening of stargazing as one of Miami’s premier beachfront residences sets the scene for a celebration of land and sea.

Join us at the Festival’s headquarter hotel, Loews Miami Beach, as we honor two icons alongside some of the hospitality industry’s biggest and brightest stars! Emceed by 2018 Tribute Dinner honoree Bobby Flay, this year’s star-studded celebration will toast award-winning chef, cookbook author, and television personality Alex Guarnaschelli; and Chief Executive Officer of Pernod Ricard, Alexandre Ricard. Among the evening's highlights will be The Muse Collection Live Auction led by celebrity auctioneer, Food Network star Jeff Mauro, featuring once-in-a-lifetime travel and dining experiences available for bidding. Don’t forget to also bid on luxurious travel and unique items and experiences in the Protravel International Silent Auction. From her early days cooking under some of France’s most revered chefs (including Guy Savoy at his eponymous three-star restaurant) to her longtime position as Executive Chef of Butter Restaurant in New York City, Alex Guarnaschelli has built a career on the foundation of excellence. With her signature wit and humor, she has also claimed her rightful spot as one of television’s most popular culinary stars on Food Network shows such as “Iron Chef,” “Chopped,” and “Supermarket Stakeout,” and has authored three cookbooks, including the New York Times bestseller, “Old-School Comfort Food: The Way I Learned to Cook.” A world-renowned businessman and the grandson of Pernod Ricard founder Paul Ricard, Alexandre Ricard is no stranger to stardom either. Upon graduating from the Wharton School of Business and of the University of Pennsylvania, he spent time honing his skills outside the family business before finally joining the Pernod Ricard group in 2003. Since being appointed Chairman & CEO in 2015, he has continued to take the organization – and its astounding 240 brands – to new heights, cementing its legacy as a global leader in the wine and spirits industry. When it comes to tallying up the highlights of our robust and diverse program, this Sunday brunch at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel definitely makes it to the top of the list. It’s just one of those events that feels like Festival weekend. This year, we’ve decided to up the ante even further, tapping Mashama Bailey, hailed by the Financial Times as "the most important chef in America," to help us curate a diverse lineup of chefs - Christopher Aguirre (Loews Miami Beach Hotel), Suzanne Barr (Suzanne Barr Food), Angel Barreto (Anju), Kardea Brown (Food Network star), Valerie Chang Cumpa (Itamae), Paula DaSilva (Burlock Coast), Adam Evans (Automatic Seafood and Oysters), Karla Hoyos (Tacotomia), Kyle Jacovino (Vittoria Pizzeria Napoletana), Cheetie Kumar (KINGS & Neptunes Parlour), Pierre Serrao (Ghetto Gastro), Josie Smith-Malave (Bubbles & Pearls), Paola Velez (Bakers Against Racism), and Akino West (Rosie's) - that cover a far-reaching range of cultures and cooking styles. That’s right – the boundary-breaking Bailey, who recently took home the James Beard Foundation’s top honor (Outstanding Chef), is heading to South Beach for this feel-good feast of the highest order. Bailey learned to cook from the very best – that is, her mother, grandmothers, and aunts, all of whom imparted a kind of wisdom and know-how that have been harnessed – to glorious effect – at her sensational Savannah restaurant, The Grey, which she co-owns with her business partner, John O Morisano. So it’s no surprise that for this year’s iteration of our classic buffet-style brunch, Bailey and Morisano have invited some of the most talented chefs working today to deliver their quintessentially American perspectives on traditional brunch fare, complete with a side of old-school hospitality (and a few cheeky cocktails too) and musical entertainment by jazz artist, LaVie. Together, they’ll get to the heart of what it takes to write America’s definitive recipe book and in doing so, bring an exceptional amount of skill and soul to this well-loved Sunday afternoon staple. Proceeds from Our Sunday Table: Brunch with The Grey and Friends hosted by Mashama Bailey will support the Coastal Bounty Scholarship presented by The Grey at FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management and will be specifically designated for scholarships funding student externships. James Beard semifinalist Pablo Zitzmann, whose Asian-inspired restaurant, Zitz Sum received the 2022 MICHELIN Guide’s prestigious Bib Gourmand status, isn’t of Chinese descent. (Born and raised in Colombia, Zitzmann proudly grew up in a German/Mexican immigrant household.) And yet you’d be hard pressed to find a chef who is more passionate about Asian flavors – a love for which he developed at an early age and continued to nurture during formative stints in Hong Kong, Hawaii, and Japan. Well, it looks like Zitzmann has finally met his match in Wilson Tang, the seriously cool owner of New York City’s oldest operating dim sum parlor, Nom Wah. (Tang’s family immigrated from China to start the business in 1920.) Join these two pros at Zitzmann’s Coral Gables hotspot as they team up for one of the quirkiest and culturally rich events of the Festival weekend, which charts their very different routes to falling in love with these beloved Chinese delicacies.

You simply can’t chronicle the history of Miami’s culinary community without mentioning Hy Yong, arguably one of the city’s most beloved institutions – culinary or otherwise. Devotees of the restaurant will agree that the beating heart of Hy Yong is, as it always has been, the three women who created it: Tung Nguyen, Lyn Nguyen, and Kathy Manning. For this incredible SOBEWFF® master class, a small but lucky group will get the chance to join the formidable trio as they teach you how to recreate their signature pork rolling cakes – or bánh cuốn – at home. Learn their insider tips and tricks for preparing these savory Vietnamese cakes, along with the remarkable story that formed the basis for their profoundly moving memoir, Mango and Peppercorns. Taking place at The Real Food Academy, Miami’s preeminent destination for personalized cooking classes, this interactive class will guide you through the fragrant flavors of Vietnamese cooking and by the end of it, you will have learned how to prepare and serve your new favorite dinner party dish.

There are bartenders and there are cantineros, and make no mistake – Julio Cabrera is both. Long considered the face of the Cantinero tradition – that is, a rigorously trained class of Cuban bartender – Cabrera is the co-founder (with Chef Michelle Bernstein) of Cafe La Trova, Miami’s energizing anthem to Cuban culture. For this exclusive hands-on cocktail class, the world-famous cocktail maker will be joined by Festival favorite – and one of Miami’s top mixologists – Gio Gutierrez (aka @ChatChowTV), who certainly knows a thing or two about cocktails himself! Together, they’ll set up the bar at SGWS Wynwood (where Gutierrez filmed our Sip with #SOBEWFF virtual mixology and educational series!), imparting a lifetime of tips and tricks for whipping up one of Cuba’s sweetest gifts – the daiquiri. You’ll learn the ins and outs of mixing, shaking, stirring, and maybe even blending that most resplendent of rum-based drinks, complete with all of the necessary ingredients and step-by-step instructions…right down to the very last garnish.

Gather around the table for this opulent Italian Sunday Supper led by maestro Mario Carbone, the mind-bendingly talented chef behind Major Food Group’s deluxe catalogue of concepts including Parm, Dirty French and of course, his eponymously named restaurant that now resides in Miami Beach’s trendy South of Fifth neighborhood. The Michelin-starred and James Beard-nominated chef, who trained under culinary heavyweights Daniel Boulud, Wylie Dufresne, and Mark Ladner, is returning to the Festival following the restaurant’s slam-dunk of an opening in early 2021 to prepare a menu that pays homage to the great Italian-American restaurants of the mid-century. The retro-glam restaurant is still the hottest ticket in town and for one night only, SOBEWFF® is giving you full VIP access to savor its lavish style and Chef Carbone’s remarkable renaissance of flavors in equal measure. Complete with robust Italian wine pairings from the Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits portfolio, this swanky soirée will take you back in time to the golden age of glamour and good old-fashioned fun, all courtesy of SOBEWFF®.

Building on the success of Harlem EatUp! – the nation’s premier African American-focused festival that celebrates Harlem’s historically rich community of food, arts, and culture – SOBEWFF® is proud to program this first-of-its-kind event that highlights the equally diverse community of Overtown. Both curated and hosted by James Beard Award-winning chef, TV personality, cookbook author, and 2020 SOBEWFF® Tribute Dinner honoree Marcus Samuelsson, this rousing walk-around tasting will spotlight the local cuisine and culture that remain at the heart of the city’s Black history. Joining Samuelsson is lifestyle maven and chef Amaris Jones, who is also the chef-at-large of Red Rooster. Samuelsson’s famed Red Rooster Overtown (Miami New Times, Best New Restaurant 2021, a 2022 MICHELIN Guide Bib Gourmand winner) will create the perfect atmosphere for a remarkable roster of Overtown chefs to showcase their considerable talents, which pay homage to the neighborhood’s unique culinary traditions and cultural pride. Together, they’ll drum up a vibrant menu of flavors, complemented by top-tier wines and cocktails from the Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits portfolio. This jazzy afternoon event is guaranteed to stir up the snappiest sounds of days and nights gone by, when legends like Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Sam Cooke, and Aretha Franklin held court after performing at the Historic Lyric Theater across the street and would socialize at the Clyde Killens Pool Hall, now home to Red Rooster Overtown. Equal parts reverence and revelry, Overtown EatUp! is first and foremost a love letter to the “Harlem of the South” and its profoundly important role in shaping the Miami of today. Proceeds from Overtown EatUp! will support FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management and will be specifically designated as scholarship funding for students from Overtown. Ticket price includes all food and drink. Before creating SOBEWFF®, Festival Founder and Director Lee Brian Schrager made his mark on Miami Beach in the late 1980s and early ‘90s as the owner of Torpedo (the legendary gay bar known for its Tuesday and Thursday night parties and Sunday afternoon tea dances), The Spot on Española Way (the equally legendary bar co-owned by actor and former boxer Mickey Rourke) and CHOW (the popular health food restaurant next door to Torpedo). Frequented by designers like Gianni Versace, Thierry Mugler and Jean Paul Gaultier, and fresh-faced supermodels in town for photographer Bruce Weber’s iconic fashion shoots, Torpedo became both a Miami Beach institution and a haven for the LGBTQIA+ community. For this 40 year reunion tea dance and drag show, we’re bringing the good times back thanks to Athena Dion, the host and producer of R House Wynwood's show-stopping weekend drag brunches, and Grammy-winning Motown legend Thelma Houston, who’s slated to perform a set of chart-topping hits, including: - “Sweet Soul Music/ I Got The Music In Me” - “Saturday Night, Sunday Morning” - “Disco Heat / Mighty Real” - “Last Dance” - “Don't Leave Me This Way” Dion and Houston will be pulling out all the stops for what promises to be a dazzling drag show that harkens back to the glory days of Kitty Meow. And to tie everything together, we’ve called on social media star and TV personality Kalen Allen to provide his signature sass and fun-loving spirit (Cue the cocktails…it is happy hour after all!) The mics are on and the volume’s up for what is hands-down the most fabulous way to close out the Festival weekend.
