Description

Bobby Gilardi, the Beverage Director for Ariete Hospitality Group, is about as Miami as you can get. In fact, his iconic Miami Legends cocktails speak to the very fabric of the city. For this special Magic City Cocktails class, Gilardi will team up with another individual that always brings the party, host Gio Gutierrez, to expose guests to the cocktail culture of Miami - and walk them through the immense passion and creativity that infuses each and every one of Gilardi’s cocktail creations. Broadcast live from SGWS Wynwood, join Gilardi and Gutierrez for a crash course on the Magic City’s favorite libations, that literally screams ‘Welcome to Miami!'

Please note: Cocktails for this class are made with the following base spirits: Appleton Estate 8 Year Old Reserve Rum, Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum, Campari and Russell’s Reserve 10 Year Old Bourbon. Other modifiers may be required and will be outlined in the recipes.

PINEAPPLE JALAPEÑO-INFUSED CAZADORES REPOSADO (PREPARE IN ADVANCE OF CLASS)

  • INGREDIENTS
    • 1 LITER REPOSADO TEQUILA
    • 1 WHOLE PINEAPPLE (SKIN PEELED AND CUT INTO CHUNKS)
    • 3 WHOLE JALAPEÑOS, DESEEDED
  • PREPARATION
    • MIX ALL OF THE INGREDIENTS TOGETHER IN A PITCHER AND LEAVE COVERED FOR 2-4 DAYS.

CILANTRO-POBLANO ICE (PREPARE IN ADVANCE OF CLASS)

  • INGREDIENTS
    • 1 WHOLE JALAPEÑO, DESEEDED
    • 1 WHOLE POBLANO, DESEEDED
    • 1 BUNCH FRESH CILANTRO
    • 8 OUNCES SIMPLE SYRUP (EQUAL PARTS SUGAR AND WATER)
    • 1 QUART WATER
  • PREPARATION
    • MIX ALL OF THE INGREDIENTS TOGETHER AND DOUBLE STRAIN INTO A PITCHER. POUR MIXTURE INTO ICE CUBE MOLD AND LET FREEZE OVERNIGHT.

CHARRED PINEAPPLE SALT (PREPARE IN ADVANCE OF CLASS)

  • INGREDIENTS
    • PINEAPPLE CHUNKS USED TO INFUSE THE TEQUILA
    • SEA SALT AND CAYENNE PEPPER (2:0.75 RATIO, SEA SALT TO CAYENNE)
  • PREPARATION
    • DEHYDRATE THE PINEAPPLE CHUNKS USED TO INFUSE THE TEQUILA BY TORCHING EACH PIECE (ALL AROUND) FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS AND THEN PLACING THEM ALL ON A RIMMED BAKING SHEET.
    • COOK THEM IN THE OVEN ON LOW (225 DEGREES F) FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES (ALTERNATIVELY, YOU CAN USE A DEHYDRATOR IF YOU HAVE ONE).
    • PLACE A FEW CHUNKS OF DEHYDRATED PINEAPPLE INTO A SPICE/COFFEE GRINDER AND MIX WITH SEA SALT AND CAYENNE.

Participants for all Sips with #SOBEWFF events must be 21 or older, unless otherwise stated on the event page.

Can I attend more than one class?

Yes, you are encouraged to sign up for as many as you would like! Sign up on our website here.

What if I don’t have one of the ingredients or need to make a substitution because of dietary restrictions?

We know you are creating drinks with what you have at home, and therefore may need to make substitutions. If you have any questions on substitutions or modifications before the class, please don’t hesitate to reach out to sip@sobewff.org.

Will I get to speak to the host and guest mixologist?

Please ask as many questions as you’d like via the chat function within Zoom. If you are selected to ask a question after the drink is created, the moderator will unmute you. We will do our best to get to every question.

How long is each class?

Each Sips with #SOBEWFF class is approximately 45 - 60 minutes. The host and guest mixologist will lead you through about 30 - 45 minutes of drink-making. The last 15 minutes will be a Q&A session with the host and guest mixologist.

What can I expect from a Sip with #SOBEWFF class?

At your scheduled class time, you will enter a virtual classroom via the Zoom link provided. The host and guest mixologist will guide you step-by-step through a recipe, answering questions along the way with the help of our moderator. At the end of the session, there will be a 15-minute Q&A session with the host and guest mixologist.
