Ammiel Manevich
30-year-old owner and visionary, Ammiel Manevich hails from Colombia where he discovered his love for cholados and obleas. He opened Amazonica’s first location in Upper Buena Vista outdoor’s sanctuary in 2018 and now has a total of 5 locations including Aventura Mall, Brickell, Sawgrass Mills and New Jersey. Inspired by his Colombian background and childhood memories, Manevich wanted to create a vibrant paradise where people could unwind and enjoy a refreshing and fueling treat. He genuinely wants his guests to be able to escape at their oasis where they can unwind and refuel with a refreshing Cholado or Oblea. Manevich partnered with Colombian celebrity chef Julian Hoyos, Executive Chef of Restaurante El Silo to create an innovative spin on nostalgia street-food including the refreshing icy beverage, Cholados and sweet stuffed wafers known as, Obleas. Cholados are an exotic ice-cold treat served in a cup layered with shaved ice, homemade fruit puree, fresh fruit topping and condensed milk. The most popular Cholados include the Paradise made with a mixed berry base and topped with fresh slices of apple, mango, pineapple, strawberries, bananas, condensed milk and a wafer cookie. For something more whimsical, curious palates can try the Guavamaria Cholado which is an ode to Miami blended with guava and topped with strawberries, ice cream, condensed milk, maria cookies, guava paste and dulce de leche or a Cookies and Cream Oblea stuffed with oreos, white chocolate, rice krispies and whipped cream. For something more savory, their jungle themed destination also offers pan de bono and empanadas. Most recently, Amazonica has also added smoothies, acai bowls. Manevich has created a place of reunion and enjoyment where it’s always sunny and tropical.
