Jeff Budnechky
Jeff Bud is the passion and force behind Apocalypse BBQ. Jeff launched Apocalypse, with the help of his incredibly supportive wife Laura Bud, during the Covid-19 pandemic. Suddenly faced with the challenge of unemployment, he decided to turn one of his biggest passions into something greater. Something more than just backyard BBQ. Never one to back away from adversity, Jeff welcomed the opportunity to fulfill a promise he had made to himself many years before.
In 2013 he faced the biggest hurdle of his life, in his early 20’s and living life without much care, Jeff’s world was completely flipped around. After a routine check-up at the doctors’ office, a blood test showed signs of extreme abnormality. After digging a little deeper, he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He fought relentlessly and underwent a Bone Marrow Transplant, after almost 5 years of fighting, he was cured. The day he left the hospital he promised himself that no matter what the world threw his way, he’d follow his heart and live his second life to the fullest.
That promise manifested itself in fire, smoke, and meat.
Jeff is a self-taught Pit-master, seeking out education and knowledge from the greatest to ever do it, and applying it on his own. He often credits failure as his greatest teacher, and echos the words of Aaron Franklin “You only learn how to make good BBQ by making bad BBQ.”
Jeff and Laura are currently working on building Apocalypse into a full restaurant and defining the culture of BBQ in Miami, FL. You can learn more about this passion project on Instagram @apocalypsebbq or online at www.apocalypsebbq.com
