Chris Lordi
Chris Lordi is the proprietor of Irie Island Eats, in the beautiful Florida Keys. Born and raised in South Florida, he has over 25 years of experience in the local food and beverage industry. One of his first jobs as a teen was at a barbeque restaurant. There, he fell in love with open pit barbeque and quickly realized that cooking was his passion. Some years later, Chris was offered an opportunity to move to the Florida Keys to anchor a food and beverage program for a large resort. Having visited the Keys many times in his life for fishing trips with his dad and friends, living there had always been a dream.
After living in the Keys for some time, he saw a need within the community, and decided to open a catering company – Irie Island Eats. Irie quickly gained popularity and amassed a local following, so in 2018 Chris established Irie as a food truck. Florida Keys locals and visitors love to come to Irie Island Eats to sit amongst the banana trees, papaya trees, monstera, and moringa that Chris planted by hand on what was once a vacant lot. Inspired by local ingredients and island-style cooking from all over the world, Chris’ food is a fusion of his barbeque roots with a heavy injection of fresh, local, tropical flavors.
