About Pilo’s:
Reminiscing about the tacos his late Aunt Pilo made in Mexico during his childhood, Pilo’s founder Derek Gonzalez set out to find the most authentic street tacos in Miami. In 2017, Gonzalez opened his first location, Pilo’s Street Tacos, a quick-service restaurant concept centered around its authentic, bold flavors and inclusive environment in the heart of Brickell (Miami, FL).
Based on the instant success of their first location, Derek immediately searched for his second location, this time with an outdoor tequila garden. In 2020 Pilo’s Tequila Garden was born in Miami’s Wynwood Art District. Based on the same menu of the first location with increased offerings and one of Miami’s largest varieties of Tequila, Pilos Tequila Garden offers authentic Mexican cuisine paired with visually stunning murals and art throughout the 5,000 sq-ft. indoor/outdoor space.
Pilo’s Mission:
More important than just providing great food and drinks, Pilo’s mission goes deeper. Gonzalez’s Aunt Pilo had down-syndrome, but never let it define her. A few short months after Gonzalez opened his quick-service restaurant concept, Pilo’s Street Tacos, Aunt Pilo unfortunately passed away. Her legacy lives on through Pilo’s employment of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities — referred to as “special abilities.” The Pilo’s brand helps them achieve their dreams, increase their independence, and provides companionship. Pilo’s ultimate goal is to be the largest employer of individuals with special abilities.
