GEORGE MARKWARD
George is a native of Miami Beach, Florida and has been a fan of pastrami ever since his dad, George Sr., first took him to Wolfie’s as a child to sample some deli delights. These early explorations along with some later stops in the Northeast led him to create the tastes he now does for you, at The Pastrami Project. Since 2012, he has been feeding world travelers hungry for memories of the past along with a newer reimagining of many old deli classics, at his global foodie destination in Orlando, Florida. George certainly never envisioned this current trajectory when he set off on his original career path in Information Technology. Always an entrepreneur, he ran his own computer consulting firm for more than 20 years, prior to embarking on this new adventure. Along with his Brooklyn, N.Y. native wife and co-owner Deborah Markward, a former makeup artist for NBC TV in New York and Walt Disney World in Orlando, beside him, he will take your taste buds for a ride, literally. The only food truck to be featured on Diners Drive-ins and Dives in Orlando, he appeared in Season 26 Episode 11 Multicultural Cooking; originally airing April 2017. Other TV and radio appearances include PBS on WMFE and FOX News. Other awards and accolades include winner of the 22nd (2020) Annual Foodie Award and Best Food Truck from the Orlando Sentinel, winner of 2014 and 2015 Taste of the Jewish Community Center in Orlando.
