Hedy Goldsmith
Miami-based Hedy Goldsmith is known as one of America’s most beloved and acclaimed pastry chefs with a storied career of revolutionizing the Miami culinary scene with her with her signature, retro-modern desserts.
Hedy’s easy-bake oven-inspired playful sweets evoke edible nostalgia complemented by a sophisticated spin. Goldsmith’s signature style is a delicate, perfected balance of sweet and savory, “layering flavors that may seem odd as stand-alone, yet become part of the symphony of a dish,” she says. “I like engaging every inch of the palate; sweet, salty, sour, bitter, umami. Savory elements are essential to the success of a balanced dessert. I also get inspiration from sitting at a bar and watching mixologists craft custom drinks and building on flavor profiles.”
For six seasons, Hedy appeared on Cooking Channel’s Unique Sweets and has been featured on various television shows, including the TODAY Show, Food Network, Oprah, and Rachel Ray, and was part of an all-star team comprised of the first all-female competitors that defeated Bobby Flay on Food Network’s Iron Chef America. She created dozens of seasonal recipes for Cooking Channel and has editorial featured about all things sweet on Food Network.
A 2012 and 2013 James Beard Award Finalist for the nationally contested Outstanding Pastry Chef category, Goldsmith’s first cookbook, Baking Out Loud: Fun Desserts with Big Flavors (Clarkson Potter), was released in October 2012. She has been featured in publications such as People, Food & Wine, The New York Times, Wine Spectator, Bon Appetit, Esquire, USA Today, LA Times, Miami Herald, and many more.
Born in Philadelphia, Goldsmith holds a B.A. in Photography and Film from the Philadelphia College of Art and graduated with honors from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. Goldsmith moved to Miami 30 years ago and created some of Miami’s most memorable desserts – first at nationally recognized Mark’s Place, South Beach’s Nemo, PRIME 112, and worked for 15 years alongside Michael Schwartz’s Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink and The Genuine Hospitality Group.
Hedy created and continues to develop her personal brand, Sweet Hedy. During COVID 19, she launched Hedy at Home, to satiate the sweet tooth of her South Florida community. Her delicious sweets can now be enjoyed nationwide on Goldbelly
