Jorge Gutierrez
Jorge Gutierrez was born on February 12th, 1979 in Tijuana, Mexico. In his early twenties, Jorge began his culinary career as a line cook in San Diego, CA while studying Psychology in Tijuana. As his love for cooking grew, he decided to switch career paths and focus on his culinary aspirations, full time. Jorge’s first Executive Chef position came just a few years later at Romesco’s in San Diego. For the next eight years of his career, Jorge focused on a fusion of Mexican food with Mediterranean ingredients. In 2014, Jorge created a Mexican Taqueria offering contemporary street food with elevated ingredients and traditional techniques. In 2019, Chef Jorge had an opportunity to join Chef Pablo Salas in South Florida. Lona Cocina opened it’s doors in 2017, offering Mexican cuisine with a modern twist to Ft. Lauderdale locals and visitors alike. The partnership between Gutierrez and Salas has provided South Florida with an invitation to experience the best of Mexican cuisine through traditional ingredients and unique experiences.
