A profound appreciation for the aromatic flavors of Asia is destined to infuse this SOBEWFF® lunch headlined by Cédric Vongerichten and Tyson Cole. The Bangkok-born Vongerichten, whose impressive career includes stints at the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong and El Bulli in Barcelona, has often been singled out by diners and critics alike for his globally-minded cuisine – so winningly realized at Wayan, the chef’s excellent French-Indonesian restaurant in New York City. For this intimate event, Vongerichten will join forces with Cole, a James Beard Award winner whose unique approach – meticulous and playful, by turns – is at the center of Uchi, the splendid Austin restaurant he opened in 2003 to universal acclaim. In 2021, the Food & Wine Best New Chef recipient, who received extensive training under two formidable sushi masters, brought his Pacific Rim perspective to Miami – and the city is all the richer for it. Uchi’s impossibly chic Wynwood outpost will showcase both chefs’ finely-honed techniques and layered approach to multi-cultural cuisine as they deliver an inventive menu that awakens your senses with the fresh, exotic flavors of the East.

All net proceeds from the Festival benefit the students of the Florida International University Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management who assist Festival organizers in all aspects, including Festival planning, logistics and overall execution.
