Born and raised in Miami Gardens, Florida, Chef Daren Reid had an early passion for food. He made the decision to enroll at Miami Culinary Institute because he wanted to follow his aspirations and take them seriously. He felt he couldn’t lose even though he knew the effort would be difficult. At prestigious kitchens like the Michelin-starred The Surf Club restaurant and the James Beard-winning Uchi Miami, Chef Daren honed his skills. These apprenticeships shaped his amazing culinary ingenuity.

Through his culinary venture, PurpleLit Oyster Company, he has been able to establish a distinctive niche for himself in the culinary industry. The Chargrilled Oysters, which are grilled with a mixture of house-made seasonings and available in a variety of tastes, are one of the most well-liked dishes.
