A native of South Florida and a fourth-generation restaurateur, Alexander “Alex” Kuk is the driving force behind the revival of Wan’s in Fort Lauderdale. Carrying forward a culinary legacy that began with his great-grandfather on Calle Ocho in 1966, Alex recently reopened the family institution in Victoria Park to preserve its almost 69-year history of elevated Mandarin and Cantonese cuisine. Known for his commitment to authenticity and community, he has revitalized the restaurant’s signature dishes, including its celebrated Peking duck and fall-off-the-bone ribs, while modernizing the dining experience for a new generation of Broward County residents.

Beyond the kitchen, Alex is a dedicated educator and leader within the South Florida hospitality community. A double alumnus of the Florida International University (FIU) Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management, he serves on the Board of Directors for both the FIU Alumni Association and the Chaplin School’s Alumni Network. His passion for mentorship has led him to serve as an adjunct professor for FIU, teaching hospitality courses in both Miami and China. Today, Alex continues to champion the local industry, balancing his roles as a business owner, academic contributor, and lifelong advocate for the Florida hospitality scene.
