Born and raised in Key Biscayne, Florida, this “Key Rat” is a true Miamian. Descendant of a Cuban and Spanish bloodlines, Gaston discovered at a very early age that he had a Passion for food. He loved to eat it and loved to prepare it. Since the age of six, he spent relentless time in the kitchen with his grandmothers learning their skills. After graduating with Culinary arts and Business degrees, Gaston “hit the ground running” commencing his professional career on Lincoln Road as part of the “Mango Squad”, a group of south Florida Chefs that started the Latin fusion movement. In six months, he made Sous Chef and in less than a year after that, he had offers for Executive Chef. Since then he has run the gambit in the Gastronomic world. Including, Chef to many Celebrities, owning his own restaurants and catering companies. Gaston has spent time abroad refining his craft, Lima, Catalonia, Bariloche, Dubai, NYC, Washington DC, Puerto Rico however, Miami has always been his own playground. He has been showcased on Food Network on Celebrity Dish and many other local magazines and TV shows. Gaston also belongs to Gastro Garage, a group of misfits out of LA that go around the world Torching food and creating exceptional culinary experiences. Chef Gaston Boasts “Real Food, Bold Flavors and complimenting textures. He likes to put as many cultures on a plate as possible whether it be technique, flavor or ingredients. One of his strongest fortes is creating tasting menus, his pairings are second to none. Now he has found his new home as part of the Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel family on 17th and Collins in Miami Beach Florida.
