Karl and Sarah Worley founded Biscuit Love in 2012 with a food truck and a dream to serve Nashville delicious biscuits baked with love.
A lifelong Tennessean, Karl Worley is the descendant of a WWII Army chef and spent much of his childhood in one of Bristol’s local delis where his mother worked. After meeting his future wife, Sarah, in Nashville and following her to Denver, Colorado to attend culinary school, Karl tapped into his early memories of food, fully embracing his passion for cooking and hospitality. During a stint working at Coon Rock Farm in Durham, North Carolina, Karl immersed himself in the world of sustainable agriculture and a farm-to-table cooking philosophy. It was this ethos, combined with his childhood memories, that would shape the creative path of his career.
Karl and Sarah moved back to Nashville, and in 2012 they borrowed a food truck from a friend to sell scratch-made biscuits and biscuit sandwiches. Three years later, the Worleys opened their first brick-and-mortar Biscuit Love location in Nashville’s Gulch neighborhood, followed by stores in Hillsboro Village and Franklin.
Upon opening Biscuit Love, Karl and Sarah prioritized implementing employee care practices that went well beyond industry standard. Karl is not only passionate about developing sustainable staff care models for his restaurants, but also eager to build a community with whom to share and receive insight and findings in an effort to learn how to better support restaurant staff as an industry.
When not in the restaurants, you can find Karl spending his free time with Sarah and their daughter, Gertie, making cross-country road trips in the Airstream, supporting local restaurants, or walking the Camino.
