Alex Aportela is a Miami-based beverage director and hospitality professional known for shaping innovative bar programs across South Florida’s upscale dining scene. He began his career behind the bar at Finka Table & Tap in 2014, opening the restaurant alongside Chef Eileen Andrade within his first year, Alex was promoted to Bar Manager, where he helped define Finka’s beverage identity by creating signature cocktails that balanced bold flavors, technical precision, and approachability.
Committed to craftsmanship and creativity, Alex built Finka’s cocktail program around fresh, house made components, including hand pressed juices and one of a kind syrups and infusions. His passion for innovation led him to explore advanced techniques, most notably clarified cocktails, a discipline he takes pride in mastering and evolving. This dedication to continual learning and experimentation has earned him multiple competition wins and industry accolades.
As his role expanded, Alex stepped into the position of Beverage Director, overseeing beverage programs across the group and opening Amelia’s 1931, where his refined, technique driven approach complements the restaurant’s intimate yet elevated dining experience. His work has become recognized for developing cocktail menus that balance technical precision with creative flair, helping elevate Miami’s standing in the national cocktail landscape.
