Omar was crowned Best Sommelier of Mexico in 2011 and again in 2013. In the same year, he competed in the Best Sommelier of the World competition, securing the 23rd place out of around sixty candidates. He made his way to France in 2016 to pursue a master’s degree in Wine Economics. With his diploma in hand, he worked as sommelier at the restaurant Le 7 in the Cité du Vin in Bordeaux. In 2023, he was named the Best Sommelier of Bordeaux Wines. Today, he holds the position of Head of Reception and Training for Barton & Guestier.
